Introducing Anna Zuke a New PADI Reef Rescue Diver Instructor!
Ever since her first ocean dive, Anna has been enthralled with coral- she has researched reef restoration techniques, been involved with a conservation group and dive shops, and worked on coral propagation and mitigation projects where she witnessed some of the impacts that humans have on coral reefs. These experiences highlighted the importance of education and community involvement in conservation which led Anna to the Cape Eleuthera Institute where she currently works as a Lead Educator and Research Liaison for the Educational Programs department.
Anna became an Open Water SCUBA Instructor in 2014 with the goal of sharing her love for coral and making the marine world accessible to a wider audience. She is extremely excited to start teaching the Reef Rescue Diver course because it gives divers the opportunity to get hands-on experience working to restore coral populations and learn what they can do to reverse the decline of reef health. Anna believes that coral nurseries are not only a successful part of reef restoration, but can be used as amazing teaching tools too! This course is a fun way to involve Educational Programs with divers of all backgrounds in citizen science and will hopefully inspire more coral reef advocates!
The Reef Rescue Network continues to expand throughout The Bahamas and we welcome you to contact us if your business would like to develop your own coral nursery.
