The Perry Institute for Marine Science offers a structured coral restoration training series designed to progressively build diver competency in reef restoration field operations.
The program introduces participants to coral restoration principles, develops practical field skills, and prepares divers to assist in active reef restoration and monitoring projects in The Bahamas.
Training is delivered through a progressive three-level pathway. Each level increases in technical complexity and operational responsibility, allowing participants to advance their skills while gaining practical field experience alongside PIMS restoration staff.
Begin at Level 1 or, with relevant experience and PIMS staff approval, enroll directly in intermediate or advanced training.

A one-day introductory course focused on coral biology, restoration concepts, and basic nursery maintenance techniques. Two training dives off the PIMS research vessel from Albany. Participants earn the PADI Reef Rescue Diver Certification.
