Lily Jane |
Communications Director
Lily Jane is a scientist, storyteller, and artist on a mission to bridge the gap between complex marine research and public understanding. As the Communications Director at the Perry Institute for Marine Science (PIMS), she oversees the organization’s global voice, coordinating comprehensive strategies across fisheries research, coral reef restoration, and coastal habitat conservation.
With a unique academic background that includes a Master of Science in Marine Biology from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University, Lily brings a rare duality to conservation marketing. She is not just a narrator but an active participant in the science; her experience ranges from managing coral nurseries and training interns in The Bahamas to reporting on climate policy in the High Arctic.
At PIMS, Lily translates rigorous scientific data into compelling visuals and narratives. She is the creative force behind the Institute’s brand, utilizing a wide technical stack—including html, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and Procreate—to produce high-res visuals, educational campaigns, and press materials. Her strategic approach to storytelling has helped secure over $400,000 in funding for conservation initiatives and placed PIMS research in major publications like National Geographic and The New York Times.
Based in Vancouver, Canada, Lily is a PADI Divemaster and a lover of the cold Pacific waters. When she isn’t designing digital campaigns or analyzing engagement data, she can be found hiking, freediving, or exploring the intersection of art and nature.
